Ruth Dettman, Leadership Coach

When Ruth Dettman, a Perth-based Executive and Leadership coach needed to introduce and market her services on her website and social media she got in touch.

Ruth wanted to create a video that explained who she is, introduced her services and explain what value provides to clients. We set to work.

Behind the scenes, we worked with Ruth to create a script for this video. Then on the shoot we used a two-camera setup to help craft her message. As Ruth has just returned from working in the middle east and is looking to establish her work here in Perth, we weren’t able to shoot any overlay footage, so the two-camera setup helps the viewer to not feel stagnant when watching. It’s also the reason the 2nd camera has some movement to it.

We also suggest to Ruth that shooting a series of ‘micro-content’ videos would help her on both her website and content for social media.

These videos were not scripted so as to assist with giving them a natural and flowing feel. We also changed setups - having Ruth speak ‘off camera’ leaves the viewer feeling as if these are more of an interview or chat than a piece of marketing.

In total we created 14 pieces of micro-content for Ruth.

Behind the scenes we had a set of questions and a rough outline of answers for each planned, but during shooting we leave this to one side - only using them as a prompt when needed. This methodology tends to allow the talent to answer more naturally, rather than trying to memorise a script.

All the videos were provided with and without captions - allowing for better use/targeting when needed. And we also provided all the micro-content videos in both a 16x9 (shown here) and 4x5 format. 4x5 format videos are a short vertical format and are better for social media use. - allowing better use for our clients.

This project is a great example of how, even when we aren’t able to shoot overlay footage, we can still create an engaging series of videos/tools for you to market you business with.

And there’s always an option for Ruth to add in overlay footage at a later date.

But for now, Ruth has 15 videos which she can put to work, introducing herself and explaining her services through her website, email and social media.

If you’re looking to introduce your services and explain the value you provide to your clients - then video is a great place to start. Feel free to get in touch to have a chat about how we could help you.
