Blackoak Capital – Bringing Multiple Businesses Together in One Investor Update

When your business spans multiple industries, communicating progress to investors becomes more challenging.

For Blackoak Capital, regular investor updates are an important part of keeping stakeholders updated and informed about the growth and performance of their portfolio.

With interests across Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), early childhood education, and a recently renovated and launched multi-million-dollar hospitality venue, video provides an effective way to showcase the breadth of activity happening across the group.

For this project, Blackoak Capital wanted to create an investor update video designed to communicate recent developments across the business and provide investors with a clear overview of progress.

Our Approach

Having worked with Blackoak Capital on numerous projects over the past six years, we're familiar with both their businesses, their work methodology and their communication style.

For this project, we were involved early in the planning process, reviewing scripts and providing recommendations to help improve clarity and flow before filming began.

The production itself involved filming across four separate locations:

Each presenter from the relevant business arm was filmed on location within their area of expertise, helping make a more visually interesting experience for the viewer and creating a stronger connection between the messaging and the business being discussed.

Because we've worked with Blackoak Capital and their associated brands for a number of years, we also had access to a substantial library of existing footage. This allowed us to draw on content captured from previous projects and reduce the need for additional filming, while still creating a visually engaging final video.

Planning Across Multiple Locations

Much of the pre-production effort for this project focused on logistics.

With multiple presenters, multiple businesses, and multiple locations involved, scheduling quickly became one of the most important parts of the production process.

Our role included:

  • Reviewing and refining scripts for the client

  • Coordinating filming schedules

  • Liaising with presenters and site contacts

  • Planning filming sequences across locations

  • Managing delivery deadlines

When projects involve several businesses operating independently and with different operational methodologies, careful planning ensures production remains efficient while minimising disruption to day-to-day operations.

Creating Consistency Across Multiple Presenters

One of the unique challenges of investor update videos is maintaining consistency when multiple people appear on screen.

Naturally, every presenter has their own style, personality, and pace of delivery. While these differences help keep content authentic, it's important that the overall video still feels cohesive.

Part of this is addressed during script development by ensuring terminology, tone, and messaging remain consistent throughout the presentation.

The remainder happens during filming.

We worked closely with each presenter, providing coaching and support to help them feel comfortable on camera while ensuring delivery style, pacing, framing, and visual presentation remained consistent across all locations.

This helps create a final video that feels unified, even when several people are contributing to the story. And it’s often underestimated how much impact this can have to videos.

Making the Most of Existing Footage

One of the advantages of long-term client relationships is the video content library that develops over time.

Because we've been capturing video and photography across Blackoak Capital's various brands for several years, we were able to utilise existing footage that already showcased many of the projects and facilities being discussed.

Rather than filming content that already existed, we could focus production efforts on capturing the new messaging while using relevant library footage to reinforce key talking points throughout the edit.

This approach helps maximise the value of previous productions while keeping new projects efficient and cost-effective.

What We Delivered

For this project, we delivered:

  • 1 x five-minute investor update video

  • 16:9 format for presentation and online use

  • Versions with and without captions

The video was initially presented at Blackoak Capital's investor meeting before being used online as part of their ongoing investor communications.

Let’s Wrap This Up!

Investor updates often need to communicate a large amount of information in a relatively short period of time.

Video provides an effective way to bring together multiple businesses, locations, and stakeholders into a single, engaging piece of communication.

For Blackoak Capital, this project combined careful planning, multiple presenters, existing content libraries, and clear messaging to create an update that helped investors better understand the progress being made across the broader group.

When businesses operate across several sectors, video can play an important role in bringing those stories together and communicating them clearly to the people who matter most.

If you’re looking at creating a communication video - be it for investors, stakeholders or employees - please feel free to reach out to have a chat about your project.
